Last weekend, we made a final trip to the Bong Mines. This is a fun trip by an old mining railroad train that we take about three hours to get to an old mining area. We loaded Landrovers onto the flatbed cars of the train at the rail yard here in Monrovia, then rode up to Bong Mines, then unload and drive up to Bong lake for a swim and a bit of exploring.
The trip up is worth the whole trip, as you get to see scenery we’ve never gotten to see in the Monrovia area. We went through villages and wetlands areas. It was a great ending to my time in Liberia.
